Baynes & Dean
Diverse Traditions. . . A Musical Journey

Guitarists Brian Baynes and Christopher Dean have individually been mesmerizing audiences with their musical styles for years. Each artist has put his own, highly personal stamp on the instrument, not only by the way they play, but also by the music they write and interpret, and the emotions and images their music invokes. Now they have teamed up to present a show that "will absolutely blow your sox off!"

The collaboration by these two multi-instrumentalists brings a new and refreshing dynamic to the stage, both vocally and instrumentally. Performing Celtic (Irish/Scottish), American Folk, Adult Contemporary, Blues, Country, Bluegrass, and more, provides the audience with an exciting diversity along the musical journey incorporated in each show.

BRIAN BAYNES

Albert Lee and Brian Baynes in the recording studio

Born in Dublin, Brian started his musical career as a guitarist for various touring show bands in Ireland. Pursuing a solo career, Brian came to the U.S., and now lives in San Diego. Drawing on his early musical influences of both American and Irish music, Brian alternates between the concert stage and the recording studio, finding that one enhances the other. His live performances include stage productions, concerts, and festivals. He often guests with other artists, most notably the Grossmont and San Diego Symphony Orchestras, and the legendary Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser.

In the studio, Brian has a well established reputation as a producer with many album credits. His recorded work has been featured on numerous local and international albums, as well as television, and radio commercials. Presently, his guitar work and musical arrangements can be heard on an A&E Network's "Biography", and Irish singer Nollaig Brolly's acclaimed debut album, among others. His instrumental album "Celtic Guitar" features renowned Celtic fiddler Martin Hayes and two time Grammy award winner P.J. Curtis. Selections from the album, including his original compositions, were performed with the San Diego Symphony. Brian also had a roll in the movie "Titanic".

Upcoming live performances include continued collaborations with the San Diego Symphony, Alasdair Fraser, Eileen Ivers, Eric Rigler, Christopher Dean, and guitar clinics for Avalon (formally Lowden) guitars.
